About Dunstan Dental Center LLC

Joseph G. Penna, DMD and Demitroula Kouzounas, DMD graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1977 and 1978 respectively. In the summer of 1978 they were married and became the first couple to attend Tufts School of Dental Medicine, where they graduated in 1981. They began their dental careers when they enlisted in the United States Army and were stationed as Captains in the 86th Medical Detachment in Giessen, Germany from 1981 to 1984. When they returned home they began practicing at Gerber Dental in South Portland, Maine. In 1986 they opened their own practice in Scarborough and have been practicing for over twenty years.

Dr. Kouzounas recently received the China Pablona Solidarity award from the City of Portland for her service to children in the Hispanic community. Currently, she also gives one evening a month for Portland’s Children’s Oral Health Program.

Colette M. Sirois, DMD graduated magna cum laude with a BA from Harvard University in 1981.  She then attended University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1985. Upon graduating she completed a general practice residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and then began practicing in Connecticut prior to her return to Maine.

Dr. Sirois joined the Dunstan Dental team in 1991 and is an integral part of the quality dentistry we provide our patients.
