Dunstan Dental Center
Policy on Dental Insurance & Payments

INSURANCE AND CANCELLATION POLICIES
Please reach out to us with any questions

Above all, we care about quality, comprehensive dental care. We want patients to feel free to ask questions about their care, discuss financial, office policy, or insurance matters proactively with our office staff to prevent potential issues.

All estimated portions are expected to be paid on the date services are rendered. We encourage all patients to be aware of what is covered or excluded from their dental plan prior to treatment to avoid unexpected costs.

We accept all major credit cards, cash, checks, and are a participating office with CareCredit. We do not offer payment plans.

We will submit claims to most primary dental insurances as a courtesy to our patients. We do not submit claims to MaineCare or medical insurances.

We are a participating provider with Delta Dental and many others through the Careington Network, please contact your insurance directly to verify if we are an in-network provider. If you are out of network, we recommend speaking with your insurance company to inquire about potential out of network coverage.

Your dental insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company, and Dunstan Dental Center is not party to that contract. Our relationship is with the patient. We bill insurance companies as a courtesy, but all balances are ultimately the responsibility of the patient or responsible party. Please call your insurance company or go to their website for answers to questions that are plan-specific.

New patients: will be required to pay all charges in full at time of service unless we are able to verify the dental coverage prior to your first appointment. If you do have dental coverage but paid out of pocket for a visit, we can submit claims and you will be reimbursed once the claim has processed.

New patients are highly encouraged to transfer their records from their previous dental provider, including x-rays, to our office ASAP.  We require Bitewing and Panoramic x-rays be on file for all patients in order to be seen for a cleaning and exam.

Scheduling, and Missed Appointments:

Appointments will be charged a broken appointment fee for the time reserved if 24 business hours notice is not given. Cancellation fees must be paid before the next visit is scheduled. Repeated missed appointments may be grounds for dismissal.

Dunstan Dental Center will attempt to confirm appointments via telephone, email, text, or some combination. These are a courtesy to the patient who is ultimately responsible for keeping the appointment time. It is important that you update your contact information with our front office in a timely manner.

Ask your insurance the following questions:
  • What is my maximum benefit per year?

  • What is my deductible?

  • When does my benefit year begin?

  • Is there a waiting period for restorative work?

  • What is the amount of remaining benefits?

  • How often am I eligible for cleanings, exams, x-rays?

  • (For secondary insurance) Are benefits coordinated with the primary?
